I love this gig
for a lot of reasons.
Firstly, it stands as a testimony to the old adage that it is not what you know, it is who you know. This, by the way, is how Gemini’s get everything: through dumb luck and their networks. |

I got this gig because I was introduced to Advertising Director Betty Lloyd at an SBEP mixer in Carpinteria (thank you, Diana Andonian, Sarah Hinton, and SBEP). I was in the right place at the right time, and the next thing you know I’m writing articles. I just love that.
Secondly, I love this gig because they let me do some things I have dreamed of doing for a long time. Honestly. Not the least of which is the articles weaving together ancient spirituality, contemporary spirituality, history, current events and politics. It’s a dream come true. I know. Only a real geek would love that but I am and I do.
Thirdly, I love this gig because although I am a Santa Barbara townie, I really love the Carpinteria Community. As a neighborhood, they have got it goin' on. Like all communities, they have their issues. They know who they are, what their common values are, and what their goals are. They work with each other to solve current problems. They care for each other, and for the land under their stewardship. Because of that, there is a vibe there that is just hard to find in other parts of the county.
