Thanks For Waiting
Okay,
so I have a big appreciation for those of you who patiently and
persistently waited for and reminded me to get back to the blogs. Honestly.
I have been a little remiss about them, lately. A lot remiss, actually.
Spastically uneven, to be precise. And I do apologize for that, I have
missed it. And I have missed the interaction with and feedback from my
readers. After more than three years of having a set schedule and
structure for the blogs, my life changed and I had to change in
response. I find I now need something a bit more, ummm, flexible. A lot more flexible, actually. And
I haven't figured it out yet. But I have some time and space and a
sufficient number of WTF calls to justify doing one now, albeit brief,
so here we go.
I
am hearing from a number of folks who are struggling more than usual
with the prelude period to the upcoming Mercury retrograde, and the
after-effects of the waning Mars retrograde. Our planetary pals seem to
be giving some of you no end of grief. Especially those with Leo moons,
and anyone with anything in early Taurus. With that
said, in a nutshell, it is on, baby, it is just on. The spring Mercury
retrograde is here, whether you are ready or not. So fasten your
seatbelts, and enjoy the ride. It is another long one - 24 days - so
there will be plenty of groovitude to go around. Let's start there. |

Making Magic: Finding the Right Place to Start
The next Mercury retrograde begins on Saturday, April 17th at 9:06 pm PDT, and when the planet is at 12 degrees Taurus. It goes direct May 11th at
3:27 pm PDT, when the planet is at 2 degrees Taurus. You can count on
Mercury's retrogrades to provide some sort of an impact, regardless of
the sign. Honestly, guys, there are just some things you can set your
watch by. But, you really, really, really, need to examine what
sign the retrograde is in, and what signs and planets it is touching,
both in your natal chart and in terms of current transits, in order to
accurately determine the where, when, and how and how severe of
the impact.
This one is in
Taurus, ruler of the Sacred Feminine. Now there are ways in which
Mercury in Taurus - when direct - is the epitome of feminine
energy at its most perfect and divine. It is positive, refined,
methodical, measured, steady, pragmatic, and very interested in
communicating whatever it is that needs to be said in the most
constructive possible way for the highest good of all involved. Amen.
Mercury in Taurus is generally cheerful, positive and optimistic, and
has a true appreciation for art and beauty. It is a good negotiator,
though it can be slow to process and assimilate information, so give
it lots of time. Mercury in Taurus is very good at business, largely
because understands the concept of commerce from both the financial and
the relational angles. And thank God for that, for Mercury in Taurus is
upwardly mobile. Seriously. It likes nice things. It has a very vested interest in expanding whatever its existing holdings happen to be, no matter how meager. |

Avoiding the Mayhem: Start Anywhere
Mercury retrograde in Taurus can
provide you with moments of the exact opposite. Sometimes, very long
moments. And sometimes, quite a lot of them. Mercury retrograde in
Taurus isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. And on a bad day, it is that
faulty, tragically
flawed sort of feminine energy that is a stubborn, self-absorbed,
shrieking shrew. It is fixed, fixated and stuck, most likely on all the
things that are wrong with you. Though, to its credit, most of
what it brings you in terms of complaints and accusations will hold at
least a kernel of truth (or two), so it will serve you to be
open-minded and partially positively responsive. This retrograde is
very results oriented, and during it you will get a lot of very
specific, very keen feedback leading to a
lot of very specific, very keen insights as to how you can get more of
what you want out of the businesses and relationships in your life.
Unfortunately, this retrograde has a reputation for being a
do-or-die, my-way-or-the-highway sort of a transit, for many extreme
breakups and crimes of passion have happened under it.
What
is most interesting for me about Mercury retrograde in Taurus is how it
calls us out. It identifies the places where we are truly questing for
greater harmony and balance in our lives and asks us to take definitive
action. Coming so hard on the heels of the Mars retrograde, and with
that ongoing opposition between Saturn and Uranus (sometimes forming
that pesky on-and-off-again T-square with Pluto), this retrograde is
just shaping up to be quite confrontational. Your best bet is to stay
calm and know when to strategically shut off your brain and/or your
mouth. Then and only then will you have the means to achieve, and the
experience of, making tangible relational progress. That is pretty much
the only way to take things to the next level. This retrograde can
provide you with a sense of completion in some aspect of your personal
journey with some of the souls you are involved with. Remember,
Mercury's retrogrades always give you the opportunity and the means to
create a greater sense of intellectual, emotional and psychological
freedom. The tricky part is to let yourself accept this gift. |

In closing,
do not forget for one minute the quicksilvery realm of planet Mercury:
the intellect, your logical and cognitive functions, and your ability
to communicate. When Mercury goes retrograde, it is very common for
people to have more mental lapses, brain farts, communication
breakdowns and jedi-mind-tricks-gone-awry than they usually do. You
simply lose your ability to will things into being. Since Mercury also
rules transportation, you can expect to see more travel glitches,
automobile accidents and mechanical problems than normal. Contrary to
popular belief, the point of these breakdowns is not to torment you and
make your existence more miserable. The point is to get you to slow
down and be more present in, with, and to the different aspects of your
life.
So
my first prescription for this Mercury retrograde is the same
one I always give for any Mercury retrograde: stop thinking, stop
talking, and stop pushing whatever agenda you have on the material
plane. This is a spiritual time and a creative time, and those are the
only banks you should be making deposits in right now. The second
prescription, as Taurus is an earth sign, is to spend time wandering
among the wildflowers and the flowering weeds, as much as the pollen
count and your allergies will allow. Nothing nourishes a wounded heart
and soul like the nature, and she cannot help you if you don't seek her out and ask her to.
My third prescription is to find and unleash your inner artiste.
Especially those of you who sing. Taurus rules the throat and the
voice, and if ever there was time to sing as if no one was listening,
it is now. So sing, baby, sing. And if you get stuck, call me. We'll
figure it out.
Blessings to you -
b
