Imbolc 2007
Like the other seven divisions of the pagan and celtic calendars,
Imbolc is rooted in nature and the seasonal cycles of
fertility. Situated halfway between the Winter Solstice and the
Spring Equinox, Imbolc is considered to be a turning point. And
depending on whose calendar you follow, we are either just in it or
just about to be. The Lunar Imbolc was January 18th and the Solar
Version occurs on February 2nd. Regardless, it's a good time to take a
minute and turn your consciousness back to your own cycles and where
you are in them.
In the agrarian cultures of old, this time of year often brought
the coldest days of the year, even though the days were getting longer.
As winter stores began to dwindle, ceremonies were held to ensure those
stores would last, as well as to court the strengthening power of the
Sun. Also central was the theme of abundance of the people,
their farms, and their communities. Key to this was taking
appropriate actions on both the material and the spiritual
levels as the new planting cycle was planned and prepared.
Though most of us live decidedly less agrarian lives today, the
themes and concepts still apply. We dream and plan, set goals and
intentions. We work to provide abundance for ourselves and our
families. We gather together to better understand ourselves, each
other, and our realities. We nourish our souls, each other and the
seeds we are preparing to plant with our spiritual practices. We help
and support each other in achieving success. Now is a good
time to do all those things, and more. If you need help determining how
that works for you, call me. We'll figure it out. |
Rolling Stellium in Aquarius
Since
the beginning of January there has been a lot of energy building in the
sign of Aquarius. Specifically, Neptune and Chiron started it , as
they have been there for awhile. On January 4th Venus joined in, on the
16th Mercury did, too. On the 19th the Moon went in - albeit breifly -
followed by the Sun on the 20th (which I why, I am quite
sure, those football games got so wierd).
Whenever
there are a lot of planets in one sign, it significantly increases the
energy of that sign AND your experience of it. Because most of the
transiting planets are personal planets, ruling aspects of your
personality, you may feel it most on a personal level, in the more
indiviudal aspects of your day to day life.
Aquarius
is the bringer of change, the lord of the edge, the master of curve
balls and wild cards and all the things you wouldn't have expected to
see in this lifetime. While not generally considered malefic in the
traditional sense, it is definitely squirrelly and designed to
teach you about flexibility and the value of change. And the
relentless pwoer and pull of the future. Aquarius is the next trend,
the next crusade, the next great big thing. It's your fabulous future,
and it's always waiting right around the bend.
For
the next couple of weeks it is going to be important to know where the
sign of Aquarius falls in your natal chart. Predictably unpredictable,
Aquarian energy is nothing to trifle with, especially given that
Mercury will be retrograding through part of it in February &
March. |
Mercury Retrogrades in Aquarius & Pisces
The
first Mercury Retrograde of 2007 begins on a very interesting date.
February 14th. Yeah, I know. Valentines' Day. Ever the trickster,
that Mercury. The King of Coyote energy. Factor in the
ever-unpredictable nature of Aquarius and you could find yourself
experiencing all sorts of interesting surprises.
So
right off the top I would say to those of you in any sort of
relationship, keep V-Day really, really light this year.
Seriously. There is just no need to borrow trouble. Especially if that
relationship is either not particularly stable to begin with or once
was but has hit some turbulence of late. And especially if etiher one
of you has very much in Aquarius in your natal charts. If you both do,
just cut to the chase and call me. We'll figure it out.
For
the merely curious and you astro-geeks as well, I will be covering
this in much, much greater detail in my upcoming Mercury
Retrograde class. For more information, follow the links to my website.

In closing, as usual, I want to thank
you for honoring me with your trust. I am awestruck by the way these
processes - yours, mine, and ours - occur and unfold. And I
remain inspired by the epic challenges we face by the heroism we
display as we rise to these occasions. Keep watching the stars, and
thanks for showing me the way!
Sincerely,
